6 Steps to Prepare for Your Spray Tan
While the Tanique airbrush tanning process is quick and easy, you should do a few things to prepare your skin for the spray tan. By following these preparation instructions, your spray tan will look great and last longer.
Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing - Loose-fitting clothes, such as a T-shirt dresses, and flip flops ensure that none of the freshly applied spray tan formula will rub off. Avoid denim, try to avoid yoga pants and bras.
Exfoliate at least 5 Hours Before Your Appointment - Exfoliate or shaving several hours before your appointment gives your pores time to close and avoid discoloration. Use OIL-FREE exfoliants.
Shower Several Hours Before Your Spray Tan Appointment - If your skin is wet and your pores are exposed, the spray tan formula will not stick to your skin correctly, leaving patchy, discolored tan. Finishing off your shower with a cold rinse to close your pores is suggested.
NO Moisturizers & Other Beauty Products - Come to your appointment with clean skin. Makeup, Moisturizers are likely to prevent the spray tan from sticking to your skin. Do NOT apply Deodorant on the day of your appointment, and avoid it for 12 hours after your spray tan as it can cause unsightly streaks.
Complete All Other Beauty Services First - Before your appointment, take care of all beauty services, such as waxing, manicures, facials, and massages. Getting these services done right after your spray tan appointment is a sure way to have your beautiful tan rubbed immediately.
Book Your Appointment 2 Days Before an Event - Your skin needs time to develop the spray tan fully. If you are getting sprayed before a big event, give your body 2-3 days to adjust to the tan to ensure your skin glows for your event.
7 Spray Tan Aftercare Tips to Maintain Your Tan
To ensure that our spray tan lasts as long as possible and you maintain your beautiful color, follow these spray tan aftercare instructions
Avoid Tight Clothing - Tight clothing is more likely to rub against your skin and remove the tanning formula.
Don't Exfoliate Until You Are Ready to Say Goodbye - When you are ready to get rid of your tan, use a gentle exfoliant to prepare for your next spray tan
Stay Away from ALL Moisture for at least 4 hours following your Appointment - This includes showering, working out, moisturizing and using liquid foundation on the skin. Give your skin the time it needs to soak in the spray tan formula
Take Your First Shower 4 to 8 Hours after your Spray Tan - Wait 4 to 8 hours after your appointment to take a shower. For your first shower, use only warm water and the palms of your hands to rinse surface bronzer off your skin. Avoid harsh scrubbing and hot water, bar soap, and Dove soap. Pat yourself dry. Keep your hair away from water for at least 8 hours. Avoid deodorant for 12 hours after a spray tan to avoid unslight streaks. Instead, use Talc.
Moisturize with an Oil-Free Moisturizer - Moisturize in the morning and evening with an oil-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free moisturizer. We recommend using Lubriderm or another natural, oil-free lotion.
Avoid Steam Rooms and Long Showers - Hot water and steam will cause your skin to loosen its hold on the spray tan.
Stay Away from Anything that May Strip Your Tan - Avoid harsh chemicals, such as chlorine in pools or hot tubs, products containing acids, massages, fashion tape and bandages.
